We decided to upgrade our outdoor cameras as our previous ones are older and there have been quite a few upgrades/developments since we first ventured into outdoor security cams. We decided to go with Wansview outdoor security camera as we’ve had several of their indoor cams and have loved them and other brands we’ve tried. The outdoor is similar to their indoor- easy to install & use, has a local storage option (SD card), and clear picture & audio. If you are new to the outdoor cam or just looking to upgrade, I’d recommend Wansview.
Wansview Outdoor Security Camera: Design
Wansview Outdoor Security Camera has a white enclosure with a black camera face. The W6 is a small camera so it’s easy to hide and place. It comes on a pedestal mount so it will need to be mounted high enough that it won’t be easily tampered with and protected from thrown objects.
Rated with IP66 waterproof and working temperatures range from -10℃ to 40℃. Sturdy and lightweight aluminum alloy housing lets your security camera stand by in stormy, snowy and other bad weather conditions.
Design of the Wansview Security Camera:
Instructions do not mention the Micro-SD card slot (strange because I think it’s a huge feature). It is located under the speaker grill. Just remove both phillips screws with the included screwdriver.
Wansview Camera Review: Functionality
2 way talk. The app allows you to hear and talk through the camera. It appeared to be push-to-talk. You have to push and hold the app’s mic button for it to work. The sound quality was good but I didn’t find a way to increase speaker volume at the camera. I can see where this could be a problem in noisy environments but the volume was adequate for most applications.
You can put an SD card in to save your pictures and videos but there’s also a cloud where you can choose to pay monthly or yearly. So you have options to either choose SD or a Cloud monthly/yearly subscription.
The live feed is available without a subscription. The current plans (Jan 21) are Basic, 3 cameras $70/yr, Extended, 5 cameras $100/yr & Pro, 7 cameras $170/yr. Monthly/quarterly plans are available for a higher fee.

Wansview Camera Review: Camera Quality
Wansview outdoor security camera is equipped with 2 Megapixel HD lens which delivers crystal and clear video day & night. The camera itself seems of good build quality and size, especially considering its full 1080p capture. Video in daylight is high quality.

With 12pcs 850nm built-in infrared LED lights, night vision distance up to 65ft, you can enjoy the HD live video clearly even in darkness.

The Verdict
All in all, a 4-pack of these at this price point is value. Not every camera fits every application scenario, but these are such great cameras for such a great price, you can almost just get them to monitor stupid stuff, like your boiler temps and psi.
